IT Eleven IT Show on 7 February 2010 According to report from ActiveMedia (Thailand) security lab, we found that top 3 computer viruses which Thai users got infacted are 1. Win32/Hakalan.G 2. Win32/Daonol.AO 3. Win32/PSW.OnLineGames.ORU. This week in our program, we will find out more information regardingly by Dr. Rachatrin Tongrungrojana, Director of Marketing and Security Expert from ActiveMedia (Thailand).
W32/Hakaglan.worm is a serious worm infection that has the ability to spread through removable drives (aka USB flash drives), Yahoo Messenger and network shares. W32/Hakaglan.worm has many characteristics where some are similar to other worm infections that spread through flash drives such as W32automa Worm or even the W32/Perlovga infection. These various worms or viruses drop files onto your computer that may disable certain functions of your computer.
W32/Hakaglan.worm Characteristics and Symptoms
• Modifies registry keys so that it may disable the task manager and registry editor (regedit).
• Hides folder options
• Creates a job file (At1.job) which will execute when your system reaches the time 09:00 hours.
• Drops harmful keylogger files in the WINDIR and SYSDIR folders.
• Deletes registry entries.
• Ends several running processes which could render your system unstable or useless.
Removal Instruction
1. Update and scan your computer with updated signature. In the case of ESET it should be 4816 at least.
